FOUNDATION AWARDS $370,636 IN GRANTS
TAUNTON, MA, July 29, 2021 — Bristol County Savings Bank’s Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation marked its 25th Anniversary with the awarding of $370,636 in grants to 37 non-profit organizations in the Taunton-Attleboro, New Bedford-Fall River and Northern Rhode Island areas. Since the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) was formed in 1996, more than $25 million has been committed to hundreds of different non-profits. In 2020, the Foundation awarded $2.2 million to various 501(c)(3) organizations.
The organizations that received grants from the Foundation are as follows:
Taunton-Attleboro area, $100,786 – Associates for Human Services – TASC ($17,000); Associates for Human Services ($6,286); Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative ($20,000); Attleboro Area School to Career ($10,000); Community Visiting Nurse Agency Inc. ($5,000); Greater Attleboro Norton Social Responsibility Alliance ($20,000); Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts ($10,000); Old Colony Habitat for Humanity ($5,000); and Pride, Inc. ($7,500).
New Bedford-Fall River area, $184,000 – Argosy Collegiate Charter School ($12,500); Bristol Community College Holocaust & Genocide Center ($3,000); Holy Name School ($7,500); Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County ($15,000); Mercy Meals & More ($3,000); Nativity Preparatory School of New Bedford ($12,500); New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center ($5,000); New Bedford Star Kids Scholarship Program ($10,000); New Bedford Whaling Museum ($10,000); Our Sisters’ School ($12,500); School on Wheels of Massachusetts ($4,000); The Schwartz Center ($10,000); University of Massachusetts School of Law ($50,000); Watuppa Rowing Center ($4,000); and Women’s Fund SouthCoast ($25,000).
Northern Rhode Island area $85,850 – Arc of Bristol County ($9,600); Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island ($5,000); Books are Wings ($5,000); Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket ($15,000); Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island ($7,500); Children’s Workshop Foundation ($6,000); Cumberland School Volunteers ($1,500); Boys Town New England ($3,750); Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation ($5,000); Hasbro Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Center ($5,000); Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School ($7,500); Rhode Island Community Food Bank ($10,000); and St. Cecilia’s School ($5,000).
Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and President & CEO of BCSB, awarded the grants to all the organizations. Also participating were Shaunna O’Connell, Mayor, City of Taunton; Paul Coogan, Mayor, City of Fall River; Paul Heroux, Mayor, City of Attleboro; Don Grebien, Mayor, City of Pawtucket; and representatives from the BCSCF advisory boards and the Bank’s area branches.
“Founded 175 years ago as a community bank, our core principle is to support the neighborhoods where our customers live and work,” said Murray. “We’re also celebrating the 25th year since our Foundation was formed and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to see firsthand the positive impact these organizations continue to make throughout the local area.”
Bristol County Savings Bank is an active supporter in the communities in which it serves. The Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration. Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Taunton/Attleboro Region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth Region, the Fall River Region and the Northern, Rhode Island Region, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population. Since the Foundation was formed, more than $25 million has been committed to hundreds of different non-profit organizations. In 2021, the Foundation awarded $2.2 million to various 501(c)(3) organizations.
