REAL ID Virtual Seminar
Wednesday, September 29
Beginning on May 3, 2023, the REAL ID will function as both a driver’s license and a federally compliant ID card. It will have a gold star in the upper-right hand corner, indicating that it is an acceptable form of identification for entering government buildings and boarding domestic flights.
What is a REAL ID and what’s all the buzz about this new form of identification? The REAL ID is a new type of credential that represents a new set of federal security standards that are being adopted across the country. After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, national leaders agreed that personal identity documents needed to be more secure and more consistent. Some states are already in compliance with these new standards and have issued REAL ID cards to all appropriate residents. Massachusetts has received an extension to phase in the new standards by May of 2023.
The documents required to obtain a REAL ID differ than those required to obtain or renew a driver’s license. Join PRIME TIME™ Travel on Wednesday, September 29th from 3:00 – 4:00 pm for a REAL ID Zoom webinar. Representatives from AAA will discuss the differences between a REAL ID and a driver’s license, the benefits to having a REAL ID and the identification documents required to obtain a REAL ID.
Those interested in applying for a REAL ID are encouraged not to wait until 2023. Start gathering your documents now and avoid the last-minute rush. This virtual meeting will be followed up with an exclusive REAL ID Day on October 20, 2021 when PRIME TIME™ Travel members, who are also AAA members, will have the opportunity to make appointments directly through Sharon Patton to apply for a REAL ID at the AAA office in Raynham, MA.
